Stupid Bandwidth
Ok so I realized how little I really understand about how this "internets" thing works . . .
What the heck is bandwidth?
Whatever it is, I have grossly exceeded mine with the mp3 downloads. that blows. I so wanted to run a cool mp3 blog . . . guess I'll just have to figure out a new way to do it, or expand my bandwidth allowance (or something?). Unfortunately, til then, I had to take down all the older mp3s. But I am going to try to maybe have one available at a time, maybe for a couple days, then take it down and put something new up. We will see if that works.
If you're a seasoned mp3 blogger, please tell me how you deal with this problem!

Hi Courtney,
New reader here, thought I'd try to help. There are a couple numbers you should know about when you get a web host. The first is storage space, how much data you can put on their server. Let's say it's 100MB. That's not huge, but it's enough for lots of text and some mp3s. The second is transfer. That's how much data you can send to other computers. Say your transfer limit for the month is 1GB. If you have a 5MB mp3 file that's downloaded 100 times, that's 500MB transfered, or half your monthly allotment. If you have a lot of mp3s up and lots of people are downloading them, it's real easy to use a whole lot of transfer in a short time. (Bandwidth is really how fast people can download stuff from your site--I think they used the wrong word there.)
It doesn't seem like Blogger has set limits for those numbers. They just yell at people who go beyond whatever they decide is reasonable. This makes mp3 blogging (which I've never personally tried) tricky. If you're willing to fork over some cash, you could get your own web host and still use Blogger to make the posts, etc. If not, limiting the mp3s that are available is your best option, or at least your easiest one.
Cheers
